Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q)

The PAR-Q is a simple form which lets me know if there are any issues we need to address before you start your exercise classes. It is designed to help you help yourself. Many benefits are associated with regular exercise, and completion of the PAR-Q is a sensible first step to take if you are planning to increase the amount of physical activity in your life.

For most people, physical activity should not pose a problem or hazard. The PAR-Q has been designed to identify the small number of people for whom physical activity might be inappropriate, or for those who should seek medical advice concerning the type of activity most suitable for them. If you are not used to being very active, or if you have a medical condition, it may be sensible to talk to your doctor by phone or in person, before you start becoming more physically active.


Common sense is your best guide when answering these questions. You can download the PAR-Q to complete at home. Just click on the pink button, print out, fill in and bring to your first class.
