We are getting closer and closer to accessing classes online. Thank you to all of you who have progressed along with me to get to this stage.
I am particularly grateful to my sister who has patiently tried Zoom with me from North Wales, to my family who have put up with me obsessing about this all week, and to all of you who have encouraged me.
If this is the first post you have read about getting ready for online classes, please read and do the steps in #1 and #2 first. They are here in my blog.
How to access meet-ups on zoom
I will organise several meet-ups this week on Zoom to help us get together successfully online. This will be a live meeting of me plus a small number of participants. We will all be able to see each other on the screen and we should be able to get some time to talk together. The meet-up will only last a short time. We will be able to check that you can hear and see me etc. These practice meet-ups will be free. The dates and times will be listed on my website.
Go to my website and see the list of meet-ups. They will be under “Online Classes”.
There will be a different link for each meet-up. You will be able to see the times and dates. Decide which one/s you are attending and note them down. Just before the meet-up, you come back to the same place on my website and click on the link to join in.
Please watch this video to see how to join a meet-up. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/hIkCmbvAHQQ .You can pause it and re-watch it as much as you like.
There is a page of instructions on Zoom about this:https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362193-Joining-a-Meeting. It tells you how to access a Zoom meeting for all different devices, Windows/Mac, Android etc. Scroll down and click the headings to read the bit that is relevant to your device.
You can practise by joining a test session. Here is the link to do that: https://zoom.us/test
Just before the meet-up
Before the meet-up, switch your device on and access “Online classes” on my website again.
You can click on the link to the meet-up a short while before the start time, and join the meet-up. If you click the link a long time before the meet-up starts, it won’t be ready.
To join in anything on Zoom, you will need Zoom installed on your computer. If you haven’t already downloaded Zoom, clicking the invitation link will prompt you to download Zoom and that will have to happen before you can go further.
During the meet-up
You will need to join the meet-up with your audio and video on otherwise I cannot see or hear you. Make sure the volume on your device is loud enough and if it is a tablet, have it landscape not portrait.
I want to make sure you can hear me, I can hear you, and you can hear the music. There is no need to wear fitness clothes - you can have a cuppa if you like!
Be aware that everyone can see and hear each other and what is visible/ audible in the background.
If you cannot communicate with me during the meet-up, you can try typing a message using the “Chat” facility on your zoom screen or you can text/ message me during the meet-up on 07747185881.
When we are ready, and comfortable with zoom, I will then put on some free, short classes. These will be listed on my website and accessed in the same way.
